Job Description

Baker Aviation is a Part 135 private jet operator, and we run almost the entire operation on software we build ourselves — maintenance tracking, document intelligence, international ops compliance, fleet operations, and more. We're a small team that ships an unusual amount of product, because we buildAI-native: every engineer here works alongside AI tooling to design, write, and ship features in days, not quarters.

We're looking for an entry-level full-stack engineer who wants to ship real things fast. You won't be fixing typos for six months — you'll be in production code in week one, building tools that move actual jets, crews, and maintenance teams.

What you'll work on

  • Customer- and crew-facing web apps used daily to run flight operations
  • Data pipelines that ingest flight data, maintenance squawks, fuel pricing, and documents
  • AI-powered features — document parsing, vision-based defect detection, assistant tooling
  • Internal dashboards and automations that replace manual ops work

Our stack

  • Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js (App Router)
  • Backend: Next.js API routes, Python services, Supabase (Postgres + RLS + Storage)
  • Infra: Vercel, cron-driven pipelines, Slack integrations
  • AI: Claude API across parsing, vision, and assistant features

You don't need to know all of this. You need to be able to learn it fast.

What we're looking for

  • Strong fundamentals in at least one modern language (TypeScript/JavaScript or Python a plus)
  • You've built and shipped something real — a project, an internship, an app, a side hustle. We care about what you've made, not where you went to school.
  • Comfortable with (or excited about) using AI tools to write and ship code
  • Clear communicator who can work independently in a remote setting
  • Bonus: any familiarity with React/Next.js, SQL, or cloud deployment

Logistics

  • Location: Remote within the US
  • Travel: Occasional — a few trips a year to meet the team / see operations
  • Compensation: $80,000–$120,000 base, depending on experience
